The 2013 Wild Oyster Regatta will be held on November 9-10 at the Carolina Yacht Club. We are looking forward to seeing a whole bunch of Lightnings in Charleston again this year.

2013 Wild Oyster Regatta Notice of Race
You can see a list of the boats that have already committed on the class's Who's Coming list.
In addition to being a great event on it's own, the regatta is part of the Southeastern Lightning District circuit and the final event in the Charleston Harbor Lightning Championship.
Charleston Lightning Fleet 429 had it's year-end awards ceremony today at Taco Boy over lunch. About a dozen people attended.
Fleet Championship trophies were awarded to:
Patrick Hogan and Nancy Hagood
The group also talked about things we could do to make 2013 even better. The main idea was that we travel as a block, whenever possible, to about 5 out of town regattas and announce our intentions so that others in the SELD also target those regattas. The top names that I heard were:
Deep South Regatta in Savannah (and the rest of the Southern Circuit)
Wilmington's June regatta
Wilmington's Atlantic Coast Championships
North American's in Connecticut
Augusta Halloween regatta
If you want to suggest other venues, everyone is open to suggestions.
Of course, the main in town regattas will be
Carolina — this event conflicts with the ACC's in Wilmington; so we should choose which to attend in 2013
It was great to see everyone. Greg Fisher mentioned that we might be able to have a cookout at the College of Charleston some time.
Charleston Lightning Fleet 429 and the Carolina Yacht Club are happy to announce the release of the 2012 Wild Oyster Notice of Race (NOR).

In 2011, 37 boats raced in the regatta. We’re hoping to have more in 2012. Seventeen boats have already signed up. Please let us know if you’re coming by adding your name to Who’s Coming List.
Eight of the 20 boats racing at CYC-NC were from Charleston. We had a strong showing with 3 of the top 4 boats:
11 W Sloger
18 B Sloger
Final Results CYC-NC Lightning Regatta 2012
CYC-NC is an incredibly nice and fun place to sail and hang out. I encourage everyone from the Charleston Fleet to go to the regatta next yaer.
Special thanks to CYC-NC for another great regatta.
The Charleston fleet continues to grow at a rapid rate. Justin Walling and Jose Biascoechea bought hull 14684, which I’ve nicknamed “Exotic Pet”, from Chris Hamilton. They hail from James Island Yacht Club. Please join me in welcoming them to our great class.
Chris is scheduled to debut his new Allen at the District Championships this weekend.
